The BCN Design Week, organized yearly by BCD Barcelona Design Centre, is an international business focused congress framed in the field of design and aimed at those companies and professionals in any industry or productive services that use knowledge and creativity as a driver of its business activity.
The various events and activities included within the BCN Design Week offer the attendees the opportunity to learn, share and delve into varied design related topics, in order to promote Barcelona as a city of creativity, design and knowledge, strengthening the relationship between business and design and fostering greater understanding and awareness of design and its strategic value.
This year the BDW will celebrate its fourth edition positioned as a leading event for promoting and debating design and a date on the international calendar that can’t be missed. From 26th to 30th of October, businesses of diverse productive or services sectors, professionals and experts of the world of design as well as prestigious speakers will give themselves appointment in a platform of experiences in which the main topics to be addressed are Design Thinking & Creativity, Design Management, Mobile Design or Family business and Creativity, among other topics.
This year’s BCN Design Week is especially timely thanks to two events that are being promoted by the European Commission. The first of these is the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009, organised under the slogan “Imagine. Create. Innovate.” This initiative is intended to raise awareness of the importance of creativity and innovation as strategic factors in personal, social and economic growth.
The second is the Innovation Festival Barcelona, which features various events and activities related to creativity, design, innovation and knowledge with the aim of giving the general public insights into these concepts.

Interior designers Victor Zermeño and Mar García , have used Tres Tintas Barcelona wallpapers of the collections Revival , Deja Vú and All City Papers, to dress the walls of the hotel, with the elegant furniture from local designers Oscar Nuñez and Inés Najar.

Mariscal - Drawing Life 1 July – 1 November
The Design Museum presents the first UK retrospective of Spanish designer and artist Javier Mariscal. Regarded as one the world’s most innovative and original designers of our time, Mariscal’s rich and diverse body of work spans kooky cartoon characters to stunning interiors, from furniture to graphic design and corporate identities.
The exhibition and graphics will be designed by Mariscal, promising an immersive experience for the visitor into the world and mind of Mariscal. The exhibition space will be a fully illustrated environment, rich with orchestrated scenarios and installations, each telling the story of Mariscal’s pivotal projects, designs and the drawings that shaped them. Sketches, designs, films and photographs will be on display alongside furniture wallpapers and textiles. Mariscal will also design and paint an elaborate mural for the exterior of the Design Museum showcasing his unique vision and signature design style.
