La Casita de Wendy
An architect and a philosopher, both passionate for fashion and patterns, meet in Madrid and together decide to create their own label. Three years later, the Island singer Björk is wearing their dresses in various international magazine articles and in an interview conducted by the BBC. This event meant a great international projection for Inés Aguilar and Iván Martínez, creators of La Casita de Wendy, and a good boost for their label’s consolidation.
They began to design clothes seven years ago guided only by their imagination and passion for magic and story tales, which gave them their name. Since then, they haven’t stopped delivering winter and summer collections with soft and rounded garments, a select colour palette (reds, greens, intense blues and soft greys) and patterns inspired in the fairy tales created also by themselves.
They have carried out versatile projects, from designing the t-shirts for the Absolute Label campaign where they worked with designers such as Benoit and Missolin, to creating home textiles and linens in collaboration with other labels. Now they are working together with Brianda Fitz-James Stuart, who joined the team two years ago, to launch the t-shirt label La Casita de Wendy Happy and a line of purses and accessories.
Their collections have been showed at the Cibeles Runway in Madrid, at the Barcelona Runaway and in the Bread & Butter tradeshow. Their clothing items are sold in hundreds of Spanish stores and are distributed in showrooms world-wide, including international reference stores such as Barneys in New York. La Casita de Wendy has also participated in the international exhibition Pasión, Diseño Español (Passion, Spanish Design), in the Reina Sofia Museum and Museo del Traje (Clothing Museum) in Madrid.
