Marta Fernández
This pattern and interior designer discovered her passion when she was just seven years old during a shopping afternoon with her mother. She became fascinated with the patterns printed in the dresses. At such a small age, she already knew that was her thing. Many years later, while attending a presentation at the Escuela Massana of Barcelona — where she intended to enroll—another image, this time of a car painted with geometric drawings, encouraged her to major in pattern making and decide her future profession.
She broadened her education and also studied interior design, a world that fascinated her because it allowed her to transform the straight lines of her drawings into real spaces and distributions. However, she feels more comfortable and free to create within the textile design sector.
She currently alternates her designs with interior design management. She has worked in the children’s company Prenatal as a pattern designer for four years and has selected finalist in various textile design contests including one organised by the Museo Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC). Nowadays she is preparing to move to London in search of new projects and where she hopes to some day create her own design studio.
